For three years, the Leaf and Bean has proudly sponsored Singer-Songwriter-Saturdays.  We do this year round and have not missed a Saturday.   This is a great opportunity to get up close and personal with some of our favorite artist and to experience some of the best talent there is.  From Noon - 3:00 PM every Saturday these artist show up and do the thing they like best, playing good music.  The artist like it because it gives them the chance to try new songs in a relaxed enviroment and to talk to you.  They will spend time with you, its like having a private concert in your living room, they love to sing and they love to tell stories.  This is the type of venue that you hear the best music, and its given with spirit.  And you never know who will pop in and join in with the featured Singer-Songwriter.

April 19th   Tom Breiding  Visit Tom

While certain artists achieve widespread notoriety, other musicians direct their skills toward more selective audiences and gain a good deal of respect along the way. Tom Breiding has been honing his singing, guitar playing and songwriting talents since the early 80's, from his hometown of Wheeling W.Va., to his current residence in Pittsburgh, and points in between. One of Western Pennsylvania’s most diverse, prolific, and longest-serving entertainers, he's played in working bands for twenty-five years continuously, served on the staff of a major Nashville publishing company, and has released eight of his own albums since 1991.

Songwriter Workshop in May w/ Bill Toms

I am excited to offer you the unique opportunity to register for the ‘Songwriter Workshop and Forum’ meeting at the famous Leaf and Bean in Pittsburgh’s Strip District (22nd and Penn Ave) on Tuesday’s May 6, 13, and 20.

We will get together at 7pm and go about an hour to 90 minutes each session. You do not have to be a musician or songwriter to participate. As a matter of fact, I would encourage folks who are interested in learning a little bit about structure, history, genre, and the art of songwriting to try it out. It should be a lot of fun. Our goal is to write a song by the end of the third session. Nothing elaborate, just the development of an idea coming to life. I believe everyone has a song or two or three-hundred in them. We will concentrate on the lyrics styling of American Roots music (Rock and Roll, Blues, Country & Americana). Everyone will have the opportunity to play their song (if they are a musician) or have me perform it at one of my Leaf and Bean shows. I am really looking forward to giving you the chance and forum for some great discussions about music and songwriting and all the possibilities that lie within this great art form.

Coming soon Cigar Club
